Subject: Mission Thursday Recap

Well, we almost got one side completed on the roof and had the wrong insulation 15" not 24" so the shed is wired, and the next group should complete both projects. We have a couple souvenirs from Ms Ester to show and they are coming to the chapel service tonight. This pm after Subway, Ms Lisa kindly did a little laundry, a few went swimming close by with me and Bob stayed here with those who wanted to chill. We will do Pizza Hut tonight ( double tap for dares, I just learned that one). Tomorrow they want to sleep in until 10 and then we are thinking lake fun but some have done that two days in a row, so we will discuss at dinner. Friday night is the Passion Play at 830 with a couple pre shows if desired. Fyi we plan to leave around 10 and hope to be in Allen by 4 Saturday. Peace to all of you.

Greetings from the lake. Youth are swimming (clear, cool lake) or played some football. One went thru some hands and resulted in a bloody nose for Tristen. Workwise, we covered the roof with tar paper and then 1/2 the roof or more with shingles. We r talking ~80 ft long roof and 30 ft deep.(2 sides) Big job and they did tear off and now replacing. Canning shed is wired and enclosed. Should get insulation and sheetrock tomorrow. They are working hard (chaperones deserve a raise) and we will have church again tonight. We did see a deer pack (youth words) of at least 10 dear on the way home from church; no issues but cool to see. All for now. Peace to all of you, your kids are doing great.

Subject: Mission Trip Tuesday

Well, an hour after I emailed Mon, we had a major thunderstorm and our thoughts went to the unfinished roof and shed. They did get wet, which may have led to tar paper on both sides and 3/4 shingles on one with energy. The shed is all closed in and now we are acting like electricians too. No major incidents, they were a little more tired and easy to get to bed last night. : ) Food is always a topic. Breakfast was scr eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage and fruit Mon. Mon nt was barbecue chick, beans, mac and cheese, slaw. (Mmm). Tues a.m was waffles with local fresh berries, fruit and bacon. Big eaters are getting full so no worries. Worship is a little more baptisty than some are use to but guitar music, a video and lots of praying (nothing wrong with all that) we stopped for some t shirts for a few who need sleeved t's as that is a rule they stick to. May be a 1st thrift exp. for some. We also had ice crm after the 1st day's work. No sun issues and they are bonding which is great to see. Many, the vast majority felt a tugging tonight and went forward to pray together. In our discussions afterwards, many feelings were discussed and release given to many. We need to keep this group together as they are awesome and it was great to see them and hear them tonight. Hopefully your youth will discuss it with you or you will see changes in them for the good.

Subject: Mission Trip Monday

A 30 min drive from our base to Ms. Esters. She is a widow for 6 yrs and her son Rod and Janet, from Tampa FL are there working too. She accidntally caught her canning/cake baking shed and a couple other sheds on fire when buning trash. We have removed shingles on a large roof, put down tar paper and some shingles. Lots of hard work on and off the roof cleaning.(Taking pics) We are also helping rebuild the canning shed. Very hot and sweaty work. Anna won for dirtiest today, a couple blisters starting and people leaning how to use skill saws and air nail guns. Ms Ester cooked lunch; brushees? Like an apple pie turnover but filled with meat and fried, green bn caserole, rice and red velvet cake. (Lucky us). Dinner will be at 530, then church at 8. Wed nt a cookout at the lake (more fun). All are holding their own and will sleep well tonight. Peace and we are here for the right reasons.
